Disney at last

27-30 Aug 2019

My pass was blocked all summer so I took my first conceivable opportunity to go. Plus I was reveling in my freedom to go places in late August. πŸ™‚

Drove down and stopped to hang out with ada both there and back. Saw some shows. πŸ™‚

Best seat in the house…lamplight lounge right on the water

Haunted mansion funnel cake

Pineapple donut
Finished the silhouette collection!
Strawberry cheesecake shake

Impossible brunch burger πŸ™‚

Summer fun

2019

I spent most of the summer deep cleaning and dejunking the house but we did manage a few fun things along the way

Teo’s birthday celebration at the summerfest parade capped by Little Caesars and a Krispy Kreme cake

Girls Camp this year had a Harry Potter theme…rocking the butter beer mustaches!
Went skydiving! It was so awesome! Teo went with me for his 18th birthday. Steve has always told me I could go when our kids were all 18 so there you go

July birthdays means lots of candles!
While Jim and Julia were visiting we visited cascade springs…beautiful!

So many fireworks on the 4th!

Annual sleepover of aunt Jen’s…included Harry Potter potions class this year. πŸ™‚

Fun in cedar with Tracy Scott, Teri, and Ada…shows, good food and pedis πŸ™‚

Christensen campout at palisade lake. We stayed in a cabin and rented boats and paddle boards πŸ™‚

Blind pilot concert at the gallivan center!

We took Yamato, the Japanese student we hosted to cascade springs

And South Fork

And Squaw Peak

And Provo Beach

And Nunns Park for roasted hot dogs and s’mores

And of course, Yamato. Actually we didn’t eat there just posed. πŸ™‚

10-14 June 2019

Flew Allegiant from Provo and camped (checked my tent and gear). Took public transportation there and a shuttle back.

I rode all of the rides! DCA on Tuesday by 2 and Disneyland on Wednesday by 10:20 (didn’t even take a break that day). Thursday was chill…found hidden mickeys, traded pins, rode what I wanted, talked to cast members about their jobs (I feel like working there would be perfect for me), and generally soaked in the place.

30 May-2 June 2019

Galaxy’s Edge on Opening Day! Awesome!!! We drove down Thursday and spent a few hours at Disneyland. Friday was our Star Wars day. We were expecting insane crowds but besides in the land itself, the place was dead. Felt like February.

Saturday we slept in and then hit universal. It was insanely busy so we did like 3 rides total but Harry Potter world alone was worth the trip.

Went back to Disney on Sunday and then drove back and got home in the wee hours of Monday. Dropped ada off in cedar on the way. 😦

The reservation system is brilliant. You have a 4-hour window to visit and no stand-by line
Winnie the Pooh at night πŸ™‚
They finished the castle refurbishment and it’s much brighter!

The reservation system and opening the park early created literally ZERO line getting in
Alex opted for his own teacup instead of joining us
How do you really feel about that, Ada?
Galaxy’s Edge is so immersive…no Star Wars logos anywhere!

The life-size Millennium Falcon is awesome!
The ride is even cooler. Ada was a Pilot, Alex the gunner, and me the engineer. It’s not just a movie…what you do actually affects the ride!
Honestly the coolest part is the replica of the inside. It’s perfect. πŸ™‚
The plant-based kefta was so good that I immediately ordered 2 more. Two thumbs up on the Batuu-bon and the Moof Juice
We are so good at what we do

The pumpkin juice was twice as good as any of us expected…nicely spiced. Pumpkin cake and cauldron cakes…yum

Hogwarts is a wonderful backdrop for silliness

Comfy Alex?
We played Heads Up for like an hour while in line for the Backlot Tour
Back to Disney! Figured out a way to wear all my pins πŸ™‚

Alex had never done Jessie’s Carousel or Monsters Inc…fixed it πŸ™‚

St. Louis with April

10-13 April

Went to the NSTA conference with April. We had good times. It was so great to just hang out with her.

Delicious soul food at Grace’s

Going up in the arch is petrifying

We rode rental scooters around the city. It was awesome!

Cool game exhibit at the science museum

Best chair on the planet

30 March-2 April

We finally pulled together a family trip. We rented a house within walking distance to the park with a beautiful pool and hot tub. We had such a beautiful time at Disneyland, at the beach, and hanging out at the house. Robin, Isaiah, and I drove to cedar city and had dinner and watched a play, The Last Five Years, that Ada was house managing. We kept singing one of the songs over and over and Schmuel became Isaiah’s nickname. πŸ™‚

Jonah struggled a bit with rides…Anne and Scotty missed a lot of rides hanging out with Jonah
Cousins!
Siblings!
A photo of the vomit cup from the chill cup
New ride! Jessie’s carousel. πŸ™‚

We love Winnie the Pooh and Auntie Teri!
Twinners
Fire engine fun…loved ringing the bell πŸ™‚
Ada left a day earlier so that she could make it home for school 😦
We waited for quite awhile for Pirates to come back up
Blue bayou was worth the wait πŸ™‚

Jen and Ada
Robin and Schmuel

Ninja Bees πŸ™‚
Chicken, Scotty, Anne, and Jonah Bear
Prince Juni, Susie Q, and Orion the Best

Ada’s ears made the rounds

BirthdayAndDaughterDisney

2-5 May

I got to spend my birthday with my favorite daughter at my favorite place. I flew down and she drove and we met at Blue Bayou πŸ™‚

Added cute little Mickeys to our charm necklaces
Finally got matching shirts!

Strawberry cheesecake funnel cake…happy birthday to me πŸ™‚
Jessie’s carousel is awesome!

The very first Groove shirt I have ever seen at Disneyland

We were there on May the Fourth so we got some Star Wars photos. Hyperspace mountain too!

Pop-up Disney was really fun…got some great shots πŸ™‚

DisneyInTheRain

2-4 March

Torrential downpour is awesome at Disneyland! I just came by myself.

Mickey’s Mix Magic is my fave!
I finally rode on Jingles, Mary Poppins’ horse!

Pelting rain in the face…wahoo!
Try the grey stuff…it really is delicious. πŸ™‚

First time at the lamplight lounge. All I can say is WOW
My new favorite burger…the Impossible. Totally plant-based!

14-17 February 2019

I stayed home from school this week feeling really down. Steve suggested flying to California for a few days so off I went. 2 days at Disney, one hanging out in my hotel room, eating at downtown Disney (AP blackout day), and freezing at the beach. Flew home on the Sunday.

Chinese new year celebration

I ate a whole tilapia! Well, some of it anyway.
I was there on Valentine’s Day…rose cake pop with sour apple ribbon. So tasty.

The valentines scavenger hunt was very engaging…some of them were really hard to find!

No fantastic that night so I got to do something I have always wanted to do…ride the Mark Twain at night
Mickey’s Mix Magic is so much fun
Especially with my cool Mickey holospex
The projections were easier to see on the fake cardboard castle
It poured rain on Friday night. Made for great photos and amazing puddles to splash in

And seriously soaked clothes…

Had some fun with photography

Cute plastic miniatures and illuminated backgrounds

Climbed out on a rocky point and watched the sunset at Newport Beach on Friday night. It was freezing!

Built a puzzle in my hotel room. It was quite a trick
The beach on Sunday morning was sunny and peaceful. Just what Dr. Steve ordered

18-21 January 2019

New things we did this time…

Had pineapple/raspberry swirled Dole Whip at the new Tropical Hideaway
Met Mary Poppins and Bert…and cried about it a little…
Had birthday beignets
Saw an awesome show (Mickeys Mix Magic) 3 times! πŸ™‚
Posed like characters in the cool ride posters

My personal favorite…thanks to stickers in Snapchat πŸ™‚
Added cute mouse ear hats charms to our necklaces

Ate dinner at Goofy’s kitchen! Characters come right up to your table πŸ™‚

Rode on the canoes
Posed with the little statues in the Walt/Mickey circle

Actually waited in line to get a photo with Walt and Mickey
Mirror photo!
Videoed the whole splashdown with my waterproof phone πŸ™‚

Took lots of thermal images

Guardians

Wet hair and then drier hair later

Before holding the cold drink and after

Morning shot when the sun had only heated the east side and then later in the day

Hot churro bites with cold eggnog ice cream
Trees keep some heat even at night!
Fireworks don’t give off additional heat
Hot railing
Demon face in the hell section of Mr Toad
Cold toes…
Mouse ear shadows
Strawberry cheesecake funnel cake πŸ™‚
No person inside as far as I can tell…
